ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has intensified its crackdown on illegal constructions and encroachments, recovering around 42 kanals of state land in the vicinity of the Diplomatic Enclave during a fresh round of operations.
The latest action, supervised by Deputy Director General Enforcement Dr Anam Fatima, targeted what officials described as land grabbers and illegal occupants operating around the high-security zone. Heavy machinery was used to remove structures built without approval, while teams from the district administration and Islamabad Police assisted the CDA.
Officials said the operation was conducted after serving prior notices and completing legal requirements. Satellite imagery from SUPARCO was also used to identify fresh encroachments, a tool now increasingly relied upon to monitor sensitive and fast-changing areas of the capital.
CDA says such operations will continue in the coming weeks as part of a broader push to protect state land and address long-standing encroachment issues. The authority maintains that recovered land will be secured to prevent reoccupation, a recurring challenge in earlier anti-encroachment drives.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa has directed enforcement teams to maintain a zero-tolerance policy, arguing that unchecked encroachments undermine Islamabad’s urban planning and visual character. He also urged residents to report illegal land occupations to help the civic body sustain the ongoing campaign.
