The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman, Mohammad Ali Randhawa, has directed that all ongoing mega development projects in Islamabad be completed ahead of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit and other major international conferences scheduled in the capital.

Chairing a high-level meeting, Mr. Randhawa emphasized that the timely completion of these projects is crucial to presenting Islamabad as a world-class, modern, and globally connected city. The meeting was attended by Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, and other senior officials.

Officials briefed the chairman on the progress of multiple development schemes planned to improve the city’s infrastructure and enhance facilities ahead of the SCO summit. It was informed that the preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for various projects is in its final stages, while work on Project Concept-I (PC-1), Project Concept-II (PC-2), and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) is actively underway.

Mr. Randhawa directed that the services of both internationally and nationally reputed consultants be hired to ensure world-class standards in design and execution. He stressed that all tendering and project processes must remain fully transparent, open, and competitive, with zero tolerance for any compromise on quality.

He also ordered that the preparation of PC-1 documents and tendering procedures be expedited to enable the formal commencement of these projects early next year.

The CDA chairman reiterated that the timely completion of these initiatives would not only improve Islamabad’s infrastructure but also transform the city into a regional hub for tourism, diplomacy, and international events, reinforcing its position as a modern and vibrant capital.
