ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority announced a sharp increase in liquefied petroleum gas prices for April 2026, triggering concern among households and businesses already facing rising living costs. The regulator raised LPG rates by Rs78.28 per kilogramme, reflecting a steep 34.66 percent jump compared to March.
Under the revised pricing, the cost of an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder surged to Rs3,588, up by Rs923.71 in a single month. The per tonne price climbed to Rs304,117, highlighting the scale of the increase and its immediate impact on consumers relying on LPG for daily use.
OGRA linked the hike to global market pressures, citing a significant increase in the Saudi Aramco contract price alongside exchange rate fluctuations. The surge is expected to intensify financial strain on households and small businesses, as LPG remains highly sensitive to international price trends.
