ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Mr. Muhammad Ali Randhawa, called on Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday and briefed him on the ongoing development projects and infrastructure improvements across the federal capital.

During the meeting, the CDA chief presented updates on various uplift schemes currently under execution, including road rehabilitation, beautification drives, and urban infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving the city’s overall outlook and efficiency. Mr. Randhawa emphasised that these initiatives are part of a broader effort to enhance Islamabad’s appeal as a model capital city.

Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani appreciated the development efforts and underlined the need for timely completion of the projects. He said Islamabad represents the face of Pakistan before the international community, and its infrastructure should reflect the nation’s progress and potential.

The meeting particularly focused on preparations for the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), scheduled for November 11 and 12. The event will host parliamentary delegates from multiple countries, making it one of the most significant diplomatic gatherings in the capital this year.

Both sides agreed that the city’s infrastructure and organisational arrangements should be of the highest standard to ensure a smooth and impressive hosting of the conference. Special attention is being given to road maintenance, traffic management, and public facility readiness in and around key routes and venues.

The development push ahead of the ISC highlights how major international events often act as catalysts for accelerated urban development.
