ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory for April 9 and 10, warning citizens of significant road diversions across the capital due to the movement of foreign delegations.
According to the advisory, multiple key routes will face temporary closures and controlled access during the movement of official convoys. Commuters have been urged to plan their travel in advance and strictly follow instructions issued by traffic police to avoid delays and inconvenience.
Authorities advised that traffic from GT Road and adjoining areas will be diverted to alternative routes during specific time windows. Residents in sectors including G 5, G 6 and F 6 have been particularly cautioned about restricted movement and increased security presence.
The advisory further highlights that entry points leading towards Red Zone and key government corridors will remain under strict surveillance. Only authorized vehicles will be allowed access during convoy movement, while general traffic will be rerouted through designated alternative roads.
Islamabad Police has also requested citizens to cooperate fully with on ground staff and avoid unnecessary travel during peak movement hours. Officials stressed that these measures are essential to ensure smooth passage of visiting delegations and maintain public safety.
The traffic plan will remain in effect from 9 am to 10 pm on both days, with real time updates to be shared through official channels. Citizens have been encouraged to stay informed and use alternative routes to minimize disruption during this high security period.
