ISLAMABAD: In one of the largest anti encroachment drives in recent years, the Capital Development Authority has reclaimed nearly 300 acres of valuable state land in Noorpur Shahan, sending a strong signal against illegal occupation in the federal capital.
The operation was carried out in coordination with the Islamabad Capital Territory administration and police, targeting a sprawling belt where encroachments had expanded rapidly over time. Officials described the reclaimed land as prime property worth billions, previously under unauthorised use and illegal transactions.
Authorities stated that the land forms part of over 2,000 acres legally acquired decades ago through formal awards, with full compensation already paid to affected landowners. This included both land allotments and financial compensation, reinforcing the legal ownership of the state over the area.
The anti encroachment campaign followed a structured legal process, with claims invited and reviewed before enforcement. After thorough verification and hearings, officials confirmed that no legitimate claims remained, clearing the way for decisive action on the ground.
Over the course of the operation, which spanned several months, around 3,500 illegal structures were identified across a 600 acre stretch between key avenues. Multiple cases have been registered against individuals involved in illegal occupation, sale and commercial exploitation of state land.
Officials emphasized that the drive strictly complies with Supreme Court directives and aims to restore public land while preventing further encroachments. The civic body reiterated its commitment to enforcing the rule of law and ensuring transparent urban management as Islamabad moves towards a more regulated and planned future.
