ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Secretariat has dismissed reports claiming that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been expelled from the Parliament House, terming them baseless and misleading.
A spokesperson for the Secretariat clarified that only the services of the CDA’s janitorial staff have been withdrawn, while all other CDA officers and technical personnel continue to perform their duties within the Parliament complex.
“The CDA has not been removed from Parliament. Only the janitorial services were discontinued as their contract was managed through a private contractor,” the spokesperson explained. “All other officers of the authority are performing their duties as usual.”
According to officials, the withdrawn janitorial staff were employees of a private firm engaged by the CDA to provide cleaning and maintenance services. The Secretariat decided to make changes in this specific area, but no alterations were made in the deployment of CDA’s engineering, electrical, horticulture, or maintenance staff.
The spokesperson further said that the CDA remains fully responsible for the maintenance, operations, and upkeep of the Parliament House and its adjoining buildings. “Reports suggesting a complete removal of CDA from the Parliament premises are factually incorrect and misleading,” the official added.
The clarification came after unverified reports circulated on social media and some online platforms, claiming that the Secretariat had expelled the CDA following alleged administrative disagreements.
