RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has launched a comprehensive probe into the affairs of University Town to ensure strict compliance with approved layouts, legal requirements, and development standards.

According to an official handout, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), constituted on the directions of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza, is actively reviewing all aspects of the housing scheme’s operations. The inquiry aims to identify irregularities and ensure accountability in line with RDA’s planning regulations.

A meeting of the JIT was held under the chairmanship of Additional Director General RDA, Mansoor Ahmad Khan, and attended by all team members. The participants reviewed the progress of the ongoing investigation, assessed available evidence, and discussed measures to promote transparency and adherence to regulatory frameworks.

The members were instructed to finalize factual findings within the stipulated timeline and submit a detailed report to the Authority for further action.

DG RDA Kinza Murtaza reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to enforcing urban planning standards, protecting the rights of allottees, and curbing violations by housing developers. She emphasized that RDA would continue to promote lawful, sustainable, and transparent urban growth where public interest remains paramount.

University Town, located along the Islamabad–Peshawar Motorway near the Islamabad International Airport, has faced scrutiny in the past over allegations of unapproved extensions and violations of planning laws. The RDA has intensified monitoring of such schemes in recent months, directing developers to comply with layout approvals and obtain mandatory No Objection Certificates (NOCs) before advertising or selling plots.
