ISLAMABAD: Saudi based Wafi Energy Pakistan Ltd has indicated plans to invest up to 100 million dollars in Pakistan over the next two to three years to expand its retail network, storage capacity and technology driven operations, reflecting renewed confidence in the country’s improving economic environment.
The announcement was made during a high level meeting between Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and a Wafi Energy Pakistan Ltd delegation at the Finance Division. The delegation was led by Javaid Akhtar, Chief Finance Officer of Asyad Group and board member of Wafi Energy Pakistan Ltd, along with Chief Executive Officer Zubair Shaikh and Chief Finance Officer Zarrar Mahmud.
According to an official statement, the meeting reviewed Wafi Energy’s current operations, future investment outlook and key issues related to the oil marketing and broader energy sector. The finance minister highlighted that sustained macroeconomic stability remains central to the government’s economic strategy and a key factor in strengthening investor confidence.
Aurangzeb noted that improved foreign exchange availability and greater predictability in the operating environment are outcomes of ongoing reforms and fiscal discipline. He said stronger external buffers would help facilitate legitimate business transactions, including dividend repatriation and cross border payments, supporting foreign investors.
The discussion also focused on the role of public private partnership models and structured finance in delivering large scale infrastructure projects. The finance minister stressed that successful provincial level experiences show the potential of these models and called for deeper engagement with the banking sector to support infrastructure development.
The Wafi Energy delegation informed the minister that the company has benefited from improved operating conditions and plans to scale up investment following recent business integration. The company operates a nationwide retail network and is investing in modernisation, digitisation and efficiency to strengthen supply resilience and service standards.
The delegation reaffirmed confidence in Pakistan’s economic outlook and underlined the need for a stable, transparent and predictable regulatory and fiscal framework to sustain long term investment. The finance minister reiterated the government’s commitment to privatisation, digitisation and investment facilitation, assuring continued engagement to support growth in the energy sector.
