ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority has signed new agreements with private firms to launch two major housing projects, even as several of its ongoing schemes continue to face prolonged delays.

According to officials, the authority entered into Memorandums of Understanding with private partners to develop projects under joint venture and public private partnership frameworks, marking a fresh push to expand housing supply in the capital region.

The first project involves mixed use apartment development on Angoori Road in Murree, covering nearly 196 kanals with potential expansion. The second project is a large scale housing scheme planned on around 1400 kanals along Chakri Road near the proposed Ring Road, a location seen as strategically important for future urban growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Zafar Iqbal said the initiatives aim to boost infrastructure, create employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity. He added that the projects align with the authority’s vision of promoting transparency and efficiency through private sector collaboration.

However, the move has raised concerns among allottees of older schemes, many of which have remained incomplete for years. Projects such as Green Enclave, Sky Garden and Lifestyle Apartments continue to face delays, leaving investors waiting for possession despite making full payments.

FGEHA officials maintained that efforts are underway to revive stalled projects, with some nearing resolution of legal and contractual disputes. Authorities say new developments and revival of pending schemes will go hand in hand, aiming to restore confidence and accelerate housing delivery in Islamabad.
