The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad has recorded a landmark achievement in its annual mandi auctions for 2026, demonstrating strong institutional performance, improved governance, and a major boost in revenue generation.

The total revenue from mandi auctions surged from Rs114.21 million in 2025 to Rs349.50 million in 2026, reflecting an extraordinary increase of Rs235.29 million. This translates into an overall growth of approximately 206%, marking one of the most significant financial gains in recent years.

This success is largely attributed to DMA’s strategic reforms focused on transparency, competitiveness, and effective regulation. The auction process drew participation from 104 bidders nationwide, creating a highly competitive environment that ensured optimal price discovery and strengthened market confidence in the system.

A mandi-wise comparison highlights consistent growth across all sites. I-12 Mandi led the surge, increasing from Rs52.65 million to Rs200.10 million, followed by Zia Masjid Mandi which jumped from Rs5.10 million to Rs50.00 million. Other locations including Sangjani, Sultana Foundation, Japan Road, and Bhara Kahu mandis also recorded substantial gains, reflecting broad-based improvement.

The impressive performance was driven by improved planning, transparent auction mechanisms, and strict enforcement against illegal mandi operations. Enhanced monitoring eliminated collusion and ensured fair competition, while crackdowns on unauthorized markets redirected business towards officially regulated sites, increasing their commercial value.

Building on this momentum, DMA aims to sustain growth through continued reforms, technological upgrades, and infrastructure improvements. The initiative aligns with the broader vision of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad to ensure efficient urban governance, financial sustainability, and better public service delivery in the federal capital.
