ISLAMABAD: A civil court in Islamabad has issued bailable arrest warrants for the chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) over alleged failure to implement a court decree concerning residents affected by the authority’s land acquisition.
Civil Judge Naseerud Din issued the order during proceedings on a petition seeking execution of the court’s earlier decree.
According to the petitioners’ lawyers, the CDA had acquired their houses, but the affected residents had not received the benefits promised under the authority’s rehabilitation policy, despite nearly 28 years having passed.
The lawyers argued that the court’s decree had still not been fully implemented and requested directions for its effective execution.
During the proceedings, the court was informed that the CDA chairman had failed to appear despite being served notices on three consecutive occasions.
Taking note of the reported non-compliance, the civil court issued bailable arrest warrants for the CDA chairman and directed the relevant authorities to ensure implementation of the decree.
The court also warned that continued failure to comply with its directions could result in further legal action.
