RAWALPINDI: In a decisive move to reclaim public space, the Rawalpindi Development Authority launched a major anti encroachment operation, removing illegal structures and sealing multiple commercial properties along High Court Road.
The operation covered key stretches from Gulraiz Gate to Car Chowk and onward to Pakki Gali, targeting unauthorised constructions that had long obstructed traffic flow and pedestrian movement. Authorities described the drive as part of a broader campaign to restore order in congested urban areas.
RDA teams remained actively deployed throughout the operation to ensure swift enforcement and prevent any resistance. Officials also engaged with shopkeepers and residents, highlighting the importance of complying with approved building plans and urban regulations.
According to officials, the crackdown was not limited to removing encroachments but also aimed at improving traffic circulation and creating a cleaner and more organised city environment. The initiative is expected to ease congestion on one of Rawalpindi’s busiest corridors.
The authority issued a strong warning that repeat violations will face strict legal action. Officials reiterated that illegal occupation of public land will not be tolerated and vowed to continue similar operations across the city to enforce urban planning laws.
Citizens have been encouraged to report illegal structures through the RDA helpline, with authorities seeking public cooperation to maintain a safe and accessible urban landscape. The drive reflects a renewed push to modernise infrastructure and enhance the overall appearance of the city.
