ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority Board, chaired by Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf, on Thursday approved a crucial decision to accelerate the development of the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre, strengthening Pakistan’s flagship public healthcare project.
The approval was made during the fourth board meeting of 2026 held at CDA Headquarters, which was attended by senior members including Member Administration Asfandyar Baloch, Member Estate Zaman Watoo, Member Finance Planning and Design Muhammad Umair, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, and Vice Chancellor Punjab University Professor Dr Muhammad Ali as board member.
According to officials, the board approved the allotment of additional land in H-11/1 for the expansion of the Jinnah Medical Complex project. The decision is aimed at ensuring sufficient space for state of the art medical infrastructure, research facilities and future hospital blocks under the mega healthcare initiative.
The Jinnah Medical Complex is being positioned as a major tertiary care and research hub designed to serve Islamabad and adjoining regions, with a focus on modern treatment facilities, medical education and advanced diagnostic services.
Chairman CDA Sohail Ashraf emphasized that the project must follow a structured development framework to ensure timely execution and international standard healthcare delivery. He stressed that all planning should prioritize efficiency, accessibility and long term public benefit.
Officials said the additional land allocation is expected to remove spatial constraints and support faster implementation of construction phases, marking a significant step forward in transforming the complex into a leading national medical institution.
