ISLAMABAD: A high level meeting between Capital Development Authority Chairman Sohail Ashraf and Khazar Farhadov has paved the way for enhanced urban development and beautification efforts in the federal capital.
The Azerbaijani envoy was welcomed at the CDA headquarters where both sides reaffirmed their strong diplomatic and cultural ties. Officials highlighted the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, rooted in shared history and mutual cooperation.
The ambassador noted that Islamabad and Baku have already established sister city relations in 2024, opening new avenues for collaboration. He revealed that Azerbaijani horticulture experts are actively working with CDA teams to enhance the city’s landscape and visual appeal.
Ongoing projects include beautification and restoration work at Saidpur Village, Melody Food Street and Seventh Avenue, along with support for the CDA’s Gardena Hub model nursery. These initiatives aim to modernise Islamabad while preserving its cultural identity.
Chairman Sohail Ashraf appreciated the contribution of Baku based experts and stressed the need to expand cooperation to key arteries such as Srinagar Highway, Margalla Road and Jinnah Avenue. He emphasised leveraging international expertise to transform Islamabad into a world class capital.
Both sides agreed to explore further investment opportunities and cultural exchanges, signaling a deepening partnership. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen bilateral ties and accelerate joint efforts to make Islamabad a modern, vibrant and globally competitive city.
